AGLC to release an app for restructuring Play Alberta platform

Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis (AGLC) has plans to introduce a Play Alberta application to grow the certified online gambling space in the province and remain in sync with the ever-evolving sector. As per the Vice President of Gaming at AGLC, Dan Keene, the application will be on its official website. 

Play Alberta is known to be the singular certified online gaming platform in Alberta, having been in the business for the last four years. The timing of the release of the application will be in tandem with the forthcoming NHL and NFL season and accessible initially on sportsbook. 

As per Keene, they have been intending to introduce an application for a while now, for better reach towards their targeted audience. In times to come, the application will include the remaining gambling segments, such as live dealer, casino, as well as lottery. 

According to data collected, over 50% of online gaming and gambling is conducted by uncertified operators, leaving Play Alberta with a meager 45%, a potential loss of prospective revenue generation. 

Dale Nally, Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction, has initiated talks with the officials of First Nations, to be followed by meetings with conventional casino and the racing sector operators. The focus will be on effectively growing the online gaming arena. 

Recently, the Alberta legislature was instrumental in passing Bill 16, which pertains to the Red Tape Reduction Statutes Amendment Act, providing the option for the government to engage with commercial players to join the online gaming business and become a viable competitor for AGLC. 

To make the Play Alberta more attractive and colorful, additions will be made to its existing array of slots, along with the introduction of separate payment methods such as PayPal and Apple Pay. 

On the horizon is also the bringing in of Aristocrat Gaming’s exclusive games to Play Alberta.
